Helen O'Connell Singing at Microphone: Well started on the lucky road that took Ginny Simms, Dorothy Lamour, the Lane Sisters and other band vocalists to Hollywood, is pretty Helen O'Connell, singer with Jimmy Dorsey's Band. She was to be heard on the "Spotlight Bands" program, on December 16, 1941. Helen, often called "the prettiest band vocalist in the business" was featured in the Paramount movie, The Fleet's In, which was released early in 1942. The studio was reported so pleased with her work, that they asked her for a long-time contract. She didn't say "Yes," right away, however.
