Herman Lubinsky, Savoy Records, Nov. 1942

   Herman Lubinsky and Savoy Records begin operations in Newark, New Jersey, focusing on recording black artists.

   Herman Lubinsky launched what would become one of the most important record labels in black music history, Savoy Records, on November 7, 1942.
