1954, from 78 RPMs to 45 RPMs

   In 1954,  US Singles 1954 Billboard debut , US Singles rnb 1954 Billboard jukebox debut ,

 US Singles rnb 1954 Billboard selling debut , UK Singles 1954 Chart debut.

 The record companies switch from 78 RPMs to 45 RPMs. The 45-rpm record starts to gain in popularity, beginning the phaseout of the 78.

 EMI (Electrical and Musical Industries) buys Capitol.


 Japanese electronic company TTK (later Sony) introduces the world's first transistor radio.
 In USA, I.D.E.A announced the TR-1 on October 18, 1954, and put it on sale in November 1954. It was the first practical transistor radio made in significant numbers. The look and size of the TR-1 were well received, but reviews of its performance were typically adverse.
